Payment Methods: Bank Wire or USDT

Two settlement options, both real, same offer amount for either. Bank wire clears same day for domestic US accounts. USDT clears within an hour. No cash above the federal AML threshold.

Payment at a Glance

Two options, both real, both used every week.

Bank wire is the default. USDT is available for sellers who want stablecoin settlement, common with Miami-transiting international sellers and with collectors who move between crypto and dollars regularly. Same offer amount for either method. Payment is initiated the moment the seller accepts the firm offer.

Bank Wire, in Detail

The default for most sellers. Fastest for domestic US accounts.

Timing

Domestic US wires clear the same business day if you accept the firm offer before 3pm Eastern. Accepted after 3pm ET, the wire clears next business day. International wires clear next business day regardless of acceptance time. Timing is set by the banking system, not by us.

Currency

USD is standard. Other currencies are possible if you want the wire in something other than USD, and the exchange rate is fixed at the time we send the wire, in writing, before we send it. We do not add a spread to the exchange rate beyond what our bank charges us.

Fees

None from our side. Your receiving bank may charge a fee for incoming wires, which varies by bank and account type. Some sellers ask us to net the fee out of the offer amount; we do not, but you can factor the fee into your acceptance decision.

Verification

We send the wire confirmation number the moment the wire is initiated so you can track it on your end. If the wire is delayed, we contact the receiving bank on your behalf if needed. In 20 years, we have never had a wire go missing, but if one ever did, we would trace it end to end.

USDT (Tether), in Detail

Real settlement option, not a footnote. Common with international sellers and collectors familiar with stablecoin settlement.

Networks supported

ERC-20 (Ethereum network) and TRC-20 (Tron network). Both work. TRC-20 typically has lower gas fees for the seller receiving. ERC-20 is more widely supported by exchanges. You tell us your preferred network when we agree the firm offer.

Timing

Typically clears within an hour of us sending. Once on-chain, USDT arrives when the network confirms the transaction, which for TRC-20 is usually 3 to 5 minutes and for ERC-20 is 5 to 20 minutes depending on network congestion. If the network is congested, it can take up to an hour on ERC-20.

Wallet responsibility

You provide the wallet address. We verify the network matches the address before sending. A mismatched network (ERC-20 address on TRC-20 send, or vice versa) is unrecoverable, so we double-check with a small test transaction on request for larger amounts. If you are unsure of your wallet address or network, ask, and we walk through it before sending.

Exchange rate

USDT is a stablecoin pegged to USD, so you receive the USD offer amount in USDT (1 USDT = 1 USD). No conversion loss at our end, no exchange rate variance at settlement. If you subsequently convert USDT to another currency or asset, that is on you.

No Cash for Pieces Above the AML Threshold

Compliance point, not a preference.

Federal AML reporting requirements above [threshold amount] mean we do not settle in cash on higher-value transactions. This is a compliance point, not a preference. Cash is available for smaller pieces at the Maui office if you strongly prefer it and the total is below the threshold.

If you are unsure whether your piece is above the threshold, ask before submitting. We tell you plainly. Splitting a transaction across multiple cash payments to stay under the threshold is called structuring, which is a federal crime, so we do not do it and neither should you.

Same Offer Amount, Whichever Method

Choose the settlement that suits your situation.

No discount for USDT, no premium for wire. The offer amount is the offer amount. We do not push one method over the other, and we do not charge a fee for either. Bank wire, USDT, or (below threshold) cash: same number, whichever you choose.

International Sellers

How this works for sellers outside the US.

1

International wires clear next business day and may involve intermediary bank fees on your side. These are set by the correspondent banks in the wire path, not by us. Typical intermediary fees are $15 to $50 depending on the currency corridor and the receiving bank. Ask us for the estimated fee before accepting if you want to factor it in.

2

USDT is the more common choice for international sellers, especially for sellers transiting through Miami. Settlement is faster, no correspondent banking layer, no intermediary fees. If you have a US-based receiving account and prefer a wire, that works too.

3

Currency conversion is handled at the wire time if you want to receive in a currency other than USD. The exchange rate is fixed in writing before the wire is sent. Sellers with corporate entities in the US receiving on their behalf: fine, but the entity name on the wire must match the seller name on the acceptance.

If Something Goes Wrong

Honest scenarios and how we handle them.

Wire rejected by receiving bank: rare, but happens with new accounts or accounts flagged for compliance review. Usually the receiving bank sends the wire back to us, and we work with you and your bank to resolve the issue before resending. No fee to you for the reissue.

Wallet address entered incorrectly: we verify addresses before sending. If the address you provide fails validation (wrong length, wrong network, obvious typo), we halt and re-verify with you before sending anything on-chain.

Currency conversion dispute: does not arise because we fix the rate in writing before sending. If you signed the acceptance with an agreed rate, that is the rate that gets sent, regardless of subsequent market movements.

What happens if you cannot receive on the day of settlement: we hold the payment until you confirm readiness. No time pressure from our side. If you need to change the receiving account or wallet after accepting, tell us before we send and we redirect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is USDT taxable?

Selling your watch is a taxable event regardless of settlement method. The IRS treats the sale the same whether you receive USD via wire or USDT. Consult your tax advisor for specifics. We report on our side as required.

You provide a valid wallet address on the network you specify. Double-check the address before sending it to us; a mismatched network is unrecoverable. If you are unsure, ask us to walk through it before we send.

No. USDT arrives as USDT in your wallet. If you want USD, you can exchange USDT for USD through any major crypto exchange (Kraken, Coinbase, Binance, etc.). That step is on your side.

Rare, but happens. Usually the receiving bank sends the wire back to us, and we work with you and your bank to resolve the issue before resending. No fee to you for the reissue.

Fixed in writing before the wire is sent. If you want to receive in a currency other than USD, we quote you the rate at wire time, you confirm, we send. No spread beyond what our bank charges us.

Yes, on request. Ask when you accept the firm offer. Common example: $10,000 USDT for immediate use, remainder by wire.

No fee from our side. Network gas fees (typically a few dollars on TRC-20, up to $20 on ERC-20 depending on congestion) come out of our end, not yours. You receive the full USD-equivalent offer amount.

No. USDT is the only cryptocurrency we settle in. Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC, and others are not offered. USDT is stable in USD terms and widely accepted, which is why we chose it.
